Three weeks old
Jayten turned three weeks old on Tuesday. He makes a lot of grunting noises and sounds like a little pig. He pretty much is noisy at everything. He's such a sweet baby. He's still sleeping a lot. He slept from midnight to 6 a.m. two nights, but most of the time he's up at least twice.
Emma's antics
Josh had turned on the tv in our room to a bull sale. Emma went in there, climbed into our bed and was watching it. Then, he came back in and so they watched it together. She thought it was so cool and kept saying "bull, moo" while pointing at the tv.
Mexican Pork Stew
My sister gave me this recipe and I hadn't tried it yet, but we made it when my folks were here. Typically I feel a recipe is just a suggestion and I add to or take away depending on ingredients on hand or my tastes. I guess it's an inherited trait as my Dad and Grandma do the same thing. However, I followed this recipe this time. It turned out great.
Mexican Pork Stew
Pork bottom roast (we found pork stew meat at the grocery store so we used that to save having to cut up the roast)
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can Ranch style beans with jalepenos
2 cans Green chili sauce
Garlic powder, chili powder, meat tenderizer and black pepper to taste.
Cut up roast (or use pork stew meat) into bite-size pieces. Season meat with spices. Add all other ingredients. Cook in crockpot. We cooked ours on low for 6 hours.
We topped ours with cheese, sour cream and crushed tortilla chips. (Baked tortilla strips are great too.)
Enjoy! Thanks Lace!
I'm still here
No, I haven't fallen off the bloggin' bandwagon, just been busy. First is the update, then I'll post the photos.
We had a great visit with my folks; it's never long enough, but always so nice to have time together. Dad tackled a few projects for me: putting up shelves, fixing a few things. I tried to keep my list short this time. He also was able to go with Josh a few days and help him too. Thanks Dad! My parents also made their famous burritos so we'd have some in the freezer and we cooked up some meat so mealtimes are prepared much faster. We took them to the airport last Sunday. All three of us girls were in tears as we drove away. But, we'll see them again this summer. Yeah!
Jayten had his two-week check-up last Thursday. He weighed 8 lbs., 8 oz. and had grown a 1/2 inch. The doctor said he was doing great. Friday night Mom and I attended a Girls Night Out at my friend's house. It was so nice to hang out with the girls. Jayten slept the whole time.
Tuesday we went to Nampa for Zeke's birthday. It was nice to catch up with Josh's mom and brothers/sister-in-law as we hadn't seen them in awhile.
On Wednesday I had my 3-week post partum visit, then had a photo shoot on my way back home. The girls got to stay with Grandma Carla and Jayten slept the whole time, waking just once to eat then was back to sleep again. Check out my photo blog in the next few days for a sneak peek at the session. I couldn't believe how much this little guy had grown since I took his newborn pics.
MJ had another good week at preschool. Emma was much better behaved at speech this week. We're working at trying to say two and three words phrases when asking for things. Last week she had a terrible time focusing since G'ma and G'dad were here. Part of the time, the girls played with Playdoh with her therapist. I hadn't gotten it out in a long time. They have played with it every day since. I had forgotten how entertaining that stuff can be.
This week has gone really fast. I felt pretty comfortable getting out with all the kids by myself this week, but was also really tired too. I really need to figure out some sort of routine so that I don't feel like each day is just a blur. I want to enjoy the days as they go by so fast.

Dress up
Two weeks old

I can't believe our little man is two weeks old already! Here's a little update on the past two weeks: Jayten has gone through two packages of diapers in two weeks.
He hasn't pee'd on me yet!
He has taken three tub baths and screamed through all of them.
He was sleeping for 4-hour stretches and has now moved to about 2 hours now. I guess he's normal! He usually wakes to eat, then falls right back to sleep.
The girls love lovin' on him.
Emma has only tried to pick him up once by herself. Luckily, we were right there to catch her.
He has his two-week check-up tomorrow.
Grandma
Both my folks have enjoyed meeting Jayten and playing with the girls. My mom is great at helping distract busy little Emma, reading books to the girls, helping with dinner/errands and taking Jayten when I need to spend time with the girls. I really enjoy visiting with my folks too. Hopefully this week we'll get some good one-on-one visits too. Their visits always seem so short, but we are so thankful for how much we do get to see them despite the distance between us.
