Valentine's Day

Last Saturday, we whipped out the craft supplies and the girls made some Valentines for Josh and my folks. Emma worked on one for Daddy, who was still out of town and MJ made a sign for Granddad Brock and Grandma Jo. We headed out that afternoon (my first outing alone with three kiddos) to pick them up at the airport. We met them at the door and Mackenzie had her sign already for them. It was a great seeing them. We ran a quick errand at the mall then came home. Josh made it home shortly after us. It was nice to just be together with family that evening.

Go Bro!

Just wanted to brag on my little brother. He just took a job as the Director of Golf at Southwind in Garden City. Check it out!

Just a few pics from today.

On a side note: Emma has decided to fully display her "two-year-old with a new baby in the house" behavior. Tonight as I was feeding Jayten, she proceeded to take off her pants and undies (she said something about going potty, but didn't), then decided to climb onto the side table and jump onto the loveseat. Repeatedly. When I told her to stop, she kept asking, "Why?" In her sweetest voice ever I might add. Hope you get a chuckle out of that. I wasn't really laughing then, but at this point if I don't find humor in her I will end up in tears. Thank goodness reinforcements will be here Saturday. :)

Wednesday

Today was a good day. My friend Lisa took MJ to school and Emma and I spent the morning reading and hanging out. After lunch we played a card game, then Carla came by to visit. She took the girls to run errands and get MJ to ballet. Jayten and I caught an afternoon nap. I had set my alarm, but slept right through it. I guess I really needed that nap! I was awakened by two little girls jumping on my bed! My other friend Christi and her girls stopped by for a quick visit and to bring dinner. It was yummy! The girls and I finished the evening with a movie.

I have been praying a lot lately for patience and grace, and for God to help me recognize when I just need to take time out from the stress and just "be" with my kids. I really felt peace about things today. I worked a little, but it didn't consume my day and I didn't have to feel guilty about letting MJ watch TV all afternoon. Life is such a balancing act and it's nice to feel "balanced" every now and then. :)

another comparison

Okay, so I found this one of Jayten to compare to the above one of Emma. Just wish I had digital photos of Mackenzie at this age. I'll have to see if I have any not in a scrapbook that I can scan. Definitely a resemblance there...

Here's a little comparison

Here are some photos from when Emma was born to compare a little. I think they have the same nose and chin, but a different mouth. Emma had a lot more dark hair and seemed a little fuller in the face. Same dark blue eyes too. I can't believe how little MJ looks, but it was almost 3 years ago!! I need to try to get a few more of Jayten with his eyes open, which doesn't happen much. He's kind of a wake to eat, then back to sleep kind of baby right now.
